Move-Out
Moving out of a self-storage unit can be a stressful experience, but with a little preparation and planning, you can ensure that the process goes smoothly. As your rental period comes to an end, we want to provide you with some instructions to help make your move-out experience hassle-free.
Provide at least 10 days' notice before vacating the unit
This allows enough time for the facility manager to prepare the unit for the next guest and ensures that there are no issues with payments or contracts. Please notify your facility manager in writing (email or text message) or by calling and providing them with your intended move-out date.
Provide a forwarding address
We encourage you to provide your facility manager with a forwarding address, so they can send any correspondence or refunds that may be due to you after the unit has been vacated.
Clean the unit thoroughly
To be eligible to get your security deposit back, you need to leave the unit in the same condition as when you rented it. Remove all items from the unit, wipe down any surfaces and sweep or vacuum the floor clean.
Take a photo of the unit clean
To keep a record of your move-out, it's a good idea to take two photos of your unit with your mobile device. Take one picture of the unit empty and clean and another of the unit number. Then, send these pictures to your facility manager via email or text message to confirm that you have moved out.
Take your lock with you
When moving out of a storage unit, it is important to remember to take your lock with you. This may seem like an obvious step, but many people forget and end up leaving the lock behind, resulting in unnecessary fees.
